SaniTap has sold and delivered 25,000 verified emission reductions (VERs) to a buyer, two weeks after Gold Standard issued them. The credits come from SaniTap’s clean cooking programme in Madagascar. The transfer took place on 21 October 2026 following issuance on 6 October of the 2025 vintage.

Just over 50,000 further credits from this issuance remain available.

Who bought them and why

The buyer is a like-minded organisation that values high integrity, high impact and high quality credits. It values the way the credits were generated, as well as the credits themselves.

James Walker, Carbon Programme Lead at SaniTap, says: “We are delighted to sell these unique carbon credits. The first ever to be recognised as improving the lives of women and girls from a cookstove project, along with a host of other market-leading attributes.”

What the credits carry

SaniTap credits carry the ICVCM CCP label. They also carry the Gold Standard Gender Responsive label. Gender-responsive projects act on gender differences, which goes further than gender-sensitive consultation. Our Knowledge Hub explains both labels in plain language.

The programme distributed over 120,000 improved cookstoves to 90,000+ households in Madagascar.

What you can check

The issuance is listed on the Gold Standard registry at https://registry.goldstandard.org/projects/details/4660. Buyers can use the registry to confirm the project record and the credits issued.

The limit of the claim

The credits are Gold Standard certified and issued, CCP and Gender Responsive labelled, CORSIA eligibility to follow the host-country authorisation.
