We are: Project Developers

  • We develop projects that will have significant social and environmental impact. We introduce clean cooking on top of improved cooking.
  • We rehabilitate broken infrastructure: Africa is littered with broken down WASH infrastructure. Repair is cheaper than new construction.
We are: Impact Builders

  • We build social enterprises that deliver impact. We help achieved the SDGs in all of our projects

We are: Financing Innovators

  • Carbon finance;
  • Adaptation Benefits Mechanism;
  • Rural advertising;
  • Leveraging & monetising last mile ‘deep reach’ and network effects.

We are: Technology Developers

  • SaniTap handwasher for households without running water.
  • Micro-solar pumps to replace hand pumps.
  • Blockchain solutions that improve transparency and efficiency.

We are: Carbon Developers

  • We build carbon programmes for our own projects and other like minded social impact organisations.
  • Carbon mitigation projects generate carbon credits which we sell to fund and grow our impact.

We build resilience in the face of Climate Change

  • Our projects and businesses all focus on addressing the single most important issue facing mankind: climate change.
  • Climate Adaptation looks to the future. Climate Mitigation acts now. Building Resilience is interwoven through all we do.

We create sustainable business solutions and product innovations that deliver Impact to large numbers of people.

Create or restore access to clean water

Innovative financing mechanisms, coupled with product innovation and last-mile delivery mechanisms, enables the construction of new, or the rehabilitation of existing broken-down WASH infrastructure. Examples include carbon finance.

Ensure ongoing provision

Much of Africa’s WASH infrastructure fails within a short time of being constructed. We create long-term partnerships and design business models that ensure long-term operational & financial sustainability.

Demonstrate Positive Impact

The sustainable delivery of WASH services to large numbers of people creates huge health, gender, economic and environmental benefits. This is what motivates us. We rigorously track numerous data points to prove our interventions deliver results

SaniTap brings Clean Cooking solutions. This reduces  deforestation, reduces indoor air pollution and reduces costs to urban and rural communities.

The benefits of access to water, sanitation and hygiene cannot be underestimated. Satisfying the physical need for a safe drinking water source, access to adequate sanitation and good hygiene practices are essential human rights, necessary for achieving other SDGs.

Water Point Maintenance
Over 60% of handpumps in Africa are broken due to technical, financial or organizational constraints. We fix this.
Innovative finance
Where people are too poor to pay the true cost of safe water, we deploy innovate financing mechanisms that offer affordable or free water to all.
Catalysing access
Novel revenue streams created from operating WASH infrastructure can generate surplus cash. Using this to construct additional new infrastructure in under-served areas causes a positive feedback loop.
Promoting hygiene
Handwashing with soap and safe disposal of stools saves more lives than safe water. We incorporate this in all our activities.

A word from Andrew our CEO

Addressing the challenges of Climate Change, we all have a role to play. SaniTap’s role is to provide clean water and sanitation to millions of people.
Whilst access to drinking water and other WASH services in Africa has been increasing; it has not kept up with population growth, let alone been raised to standards that the developed world takes for granted.

Helping communities to adapt to the inevitable impacts of climate change we have the opportunity, collaboratively, to raise standards not just sustain the old.

Increasing access to water remains top priority – but more effective mechanisms need to be developed and deployed at scale.  That’s why we innovate; design new financing mechanisms and delivery through last-mile partnerships. In so doing, we reach populations presently left out.

Our mission is to provide access to safe drinking water, sanitation and a means of handwashing, for households that don’t currently have running water.  This actively contributes to the UN’s SDG6 and helps build climate resilience and adaptation.
